His Mistress
In our first trip to the Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture contest we decided to do a bass player, 19′ tall ! This was as high as we were allowed to go, and involved lots of cutting and restacking. Our concept showed the musician and his bass, out on the sidewalk with his suitcase, having been kicked out of the house for spending too much time with his “mistress”.
To link in with the female connection to the bass Peter sculpted a woman’s derriere on the backside of the instrument. Carl crafted a very detailed head and tuning keys in pieces which were assembled on the final morning. John brought his skills to the expressive hands and Lesley worked all over.
We swept the awards, winning all 4 categories, a first for the Breckenridge contest.
We were spoiled by our volunteer hosts with fine meals and even a full hours massage for each team member.
